BioWave® Percutaneous Electrodes

BioWave® Percutaneous Electrodes contain a patented microneedle array that provides a direct conductive pathway through skin, bypassing the impedance and capacitance of skin, and allowing for deeper delivery of BioWave’s high-frequency signals to pain nerves.

  • Percutaneous electrode array bypasses impedance and capacitance of skin
  • Sterile, Single-Use
  • 2.5” diameter electrode
  • 1014 needles, 0.74mm in length
  • Feels like Velcro to the touch
  • Allows for 3.5” diameter hemisphere treatment area.

Percutaneous Electrode Sets:

  • B-sets (2, 2.5” diameter round sterile single use percutaneous electrodes)
  • E-sets (1, 2.5” diameter round sterile single use percutaneous electrode, plus 1, 2”x4” rectangular sterile single use noninvasive dispersive electrode)

B-Set Percutaneous Electrodes

  • Two same size percutaneous electrodes
  • Impedance through skin is equal beneath both electrodes

Used for Treating

  • Two Locations of Pain
  • Origin of Pain & One Pain Site most proximal to the origin of pain
  • One Large Area of Pain

E-Set Percutaneous Electrodes

  • One percutaneous electrode
  • One larger noninvasive dispersive electrode
  • Percutaneous electrode placed over single pain site location.
  • Larger noninvasive dispersive electrode must be placed over BONY PROMINENCE near the region being treated.
  • Bony prominence is the most comfortable place to receive stimulation.
  • Patient can achieve higher intensity = greater efficacy and longer residual benefit.

Used for Treating

  • One Location of Pain

BioWave Percutaneous Electrodes are compatible only with BioWaveHOME and BioWavePRO neurostimulators. For protocols and placement instructions involving BioWave Percutaneous Electrodes, see the BioWaveHOME or BioWavePRO User’s Manual and the BioWavePENS Quick Reference Guide.

BioWave Hydrogel Electrodes

BioWaveGO, BioWaveHOME and BioWavePRO Pain Therapy Systems can be used with all 3 different sized sets of BioWave Hydrogel Electrodes to focus the active electrical fields to different parts of the body.

BioWave Hydrogel Electrode Sets:

  • B-sets (2, 2” diameter round reusable noninvasive electrodes)
  • E-sets (1, 1.3” diameter round reusable noninvasive electrode, plus 1, 2”x4” rectangular reusable noninvasive dispersive electrode)
  • U-sets (1, 2” diameter round reusable noninvasive electrode, plus 1, 5”x8” rectangular reusable noninvasive dispersive electrode)

B-Set Hydrogel Electrodes: Pain in Two Locations

The B-set is comprised of two 2.0″ diameter round equal area pain site electrodes for treating:

  • directly over 2 locations of pain;
  • over the region or source of pain, and over the most painful location that is closest to the origin of pain (for example, for sciatica, one pad is placed over the spine (origin) and one pad is placed on the buttock (most painful location closest to origin);
  • one inch apart from one another to treat a large area of pain.

The B-Set is used for treating pain in the following areas:

  • pain in one or two locations in the back including, buttocks, lower back or mid back region
  • radiculopathies (radiating pain down the back or side of the leg)
  • pain in the two locations in the hip or groin
  • pain in two locations in the cervical spine, shoulders or knees
  • pain centered directly in the spine
  • pain presenting in a large area

E-Set Hydrogel Electrodes: Pain in a Single Location - Extremities

One 1.375” diameter round electrode placed over the pain site, and one 2” x 4” rectangular dispersive electrode placed over a bonyprominence – a comfortable location to receive stimulation.

Pain conditions treated with E-set Electrodes include:

  • One location of pain on extremities including knees, ankles, feet, toes, neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hands and fingers

U-Set Hydrogel Electrodes: Pain in a Single Location - Mid-torso

One 2.0” diameter round electrode placed over the pain site, and one 5” x 8” rectangular dispersive electrode placed horizontally across the lumbar area.

Pain conditions treated with U-set Electrodes include:

  • One location of pain in the mid-torso part of the body including:ribs, obliques, hips, buttocks, groin, adductors, abductors, gluteus maximus, hamstrings and quadriceps

Warning:
Electrodes must never touch each other

  • Minimum Spacing Between Electrodes = 1 inch
  • No Maximum Spacing Between Electrodes

Note: BioWave is not intended to treat any of the conditions provided as examples, only the associated, symptomatic pain.
